In my first post, I talked about how I was inspired to start this blog as a way to stay accountable to myself on DIY projects and creative pursuits. I'm a serial procrastinator and incorporating regular, publicly posted updates about whatever I have going on will help me to do the work. Having an audience introduces some stakes, and that added accountability usually helps me get work done. I'm working on the internal motivation piece, but until that habit is built, I'll need to "fake it til I make it," as they say.
In the meantime, here is a small sample of the things that have been inspiring me lately:
A YouTuber from AUS/NZ, he's a visual artist that posts a lot about inspiration and motivation around creating and publishing art. This video in particular has helped me to get off the couch and get cracking on this blog.
Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
A seminal text on Stoicism, I'm a bit embarrassed to say that it had taken me until my late 30s to read it. Better late than never, I suppose!
Another YouTuber, she's currently building a fully-functioning model steam engine completely from scratch. I'm jealous of her shop (and her skills as a machinist!)
That's all for today. Until next time!
